Brethren,

The joint installation of officers was at the Scottish Rite on Friday, June 25. We appreciate the family and friends who came in support of the Waco 92 officers. In fact, Waco 92 had the best representation of the lodges in attendance. It can be very meaningful to non-Masons when they can see what Masonry is about. This ceremony gives them a glimpse into Masonry and helps alleviate any concerns or apprehension they may have about our fraternity.

At the stated meeting on July 8, Brother Ovie Webster, Chaplain from Fidelis Lodge #1127, presented Waco 92 with a Bible he had found. This very fragile Bible was copyrighted in 1902 and has Waco 92 AF & AM on its cover. It obviously was the personal Bible of one of the members. It will be placed in the Waco 92 display case. Thanks go to Brother Webster for making the effort and taking the time to do this.

We had a good attendance at our stated meeting. However, there were members who have not been to Waco 92 in quite a while, and you are missed and needed by your lodge, brethren.

Brother McMahon is compiling a Waco 92 cookbook. The proceeds from the sale of the cookbook will be divided between the Scottish Rite and Shriners' hospitals. We hope to have copies available by the time Tranquility Lodge meets, which is Saturday July 31st.

I have put forth a challenge to Waco 92 members. This challenge is that we raise six masters this Masonic year. This is somewhat of a lofty but obtainable goal. We all know good men who would make good Masons. We do not recruit, but this should not preclude us from talking about Masonry. A friend of mine, a non-Mason, said his father was a Mason. I asked him why he wasn't a Mason. He replied that no one ever asked him. It is true we do not INVITE or ASK for members, but we can talk about Masonry. The motto is still relevant now as it has been in the past, "To become one, ask one" or in modern parlance 2-B-1-ASK-1.

Two of the many things I have learned from Masonry are: 1. I have been blessed more so than I had ever previously realized, and 2. the world is a better place if I complain less and compliment more. Have a safe and joyful summer.

Fraternally,

Kim Cowart
